Russ Newton – Of Counsel

Prior to beginning his legal career, Russ earned his BBA in Finance and MBA in Finance from the University of Texas.  He followed his time in Austin by earning a law degree from the University of Houston.

Russ began his legal practice in Houston at Chamberlain Hrdlicka White Williams and Martin in 1990. For the next 7 years he focused his legal efforts on commercial litigation, family law and estate planning. Following his time at the firm, Russ decided to enter the corporate world and for the next 23 years he served as a Trust Officer gaining knowledge and experience in all facets of the trust business – business development, administration, middle office, operations, and compliance.  During this time, he also served as an estate planning consultant.   He diagrammed estate plans and worked with both clients and attorneys to ensure that their plan was improved and customized.

As a result of Russ’s time as a corporate lawyer, the “inside information” he gleaned aids in the selection of a Bank or Trust Company when such is being considered as a component of one’s estate plan.

When not serving his clients’ needs, Russ spends much of his time with his wife Leann and his three adult children.  Additionally, he finds time to serve in his church, read and follow all sports.
